Base prices don't include travel. Travel is added from Port Angeles - see the formula below and the town pages for examples.
The formula
The price is: base + travel + after-hours surcharge (if applicable).
- Base: depends on the vehicle tier - see the list above.
- Travel: $1.50 per minute round-trip after the first 10 free minutes each way. After hours, the rate is $2.00 per minute.
- After-hours surcharge: $25 added to any appointment that starts after 5 p.m., on a weekend, or on a holiday.
- Rounding: travel is rounded to the nearest $5.
Example: a standard car in Port Angeles (6 minutes from the shop), daytime: $85 base, travel = (2×6 - 2×10) × $1.50 = $0 (under the free threshold), total = $85. Same car in Forks (60 minutes), daytime: $85 + round((2×60 - 2×10) × $1.50 / $5) × $5 = $85 + $24 = $109. Same car after hours in Forks: $85 + $25 + round((2×60 - 2×10) × $2.00 / $5) × $5 = $110 + $40 = $150.
These are real examples, not placeholders. The booking page uses the same numbers.

How travel is charged
Travel is charged per minute, round trip, for time beyond 10 free minutes each way. The formula is: billable = MAX(0, (your drive time × 2) - 10 × 2). Daytime rate is $1.50/min; after hours rate is $2.00/min. The result is rounded to the nearest $5.
Example: a standard car or light truck in Sequim (20 minutes from Port Angeles), daytime, no after-hours: travel = (2 × 20 - 10 × 2) × $1.50 = $30.00, rounded to $5 → travel charge $30. Total: $85 + $30 = $115.
Example: same vehicle after hours: travel uses the after-hours rate $2.00/min. Total: $110 + $40 = $150.

Pricing FAQ
Why does travel cost so much on some towns?
The travel charge reflects the time Daniel spends driving. A 60-minute drive isn't just the drive - it's an hour of the workday gone, and the formula charges for that time at a rate that covers the business cost of being on the road. The price on the town page is the real price for a standard car there, not an estimate.
Do you discount for multiple cars?
Not automatically - each car is priced from the formula. If you have three cars at the same location, call and we can talk about it. The formula is the starting point, not the finish line.
What if the lens turns out to be un-restorable?
You pay the $25 diagnostic fee and nothing for the restoration. The diagnostic is only waived if you proceed with the restoration at the same visit.
